The town along Turkey's coastline that is considered to be the most "European" of the resourt town is Marmaris, which is located in a fairly large resort area that is an active tourism sentre in the summer. This town marks the beginning of the north eastern edge of the Mediterranean known as the famous "Turquoise Coast." Around the bay you will find Marmaris, which has a new modern marina, at the base of mountains, surrounded by lush trees, which caters to both private yachts and commercial cruise lines sailing the Mediaterranean. Local folklorists tell tale that Marmaris received its handle when Suleyman the Magnificent "Mimari as!" when he ascertained that the fortress he had commanded to be built was not to his liking.it means "kill the designer".

If you love to shop then Maramis is the place for you. Fantastic deals can be found on items as diverse as jewellery, ceramics, leather and carpets with some of the best bargains coming at the Carsi Market located in the Ottoman Castle which features over 200 shops and a flea market open seven days a week, including a wonderfully lively Thursday market where locals come to sell fruits and vegetables along with fabrics and clothing. Preparation is critical if one wants to enjoy all Marmaris has to offer. Vendors can be pushy and annoying. bartering is expected in the smaller shops. Already cheap items can be negotiated down an additional 30%. Shoppers are warned to be on their toes because many of the goods at Marmaris are actually designer knock-offs. Most Rolex watches priced well below retail are expected to be counterfit. Fakes in Turkey are good quality, which means you should consider buying it there.

Whether you're craving something international, or you're dying to try some of the local food at the Turkish Restaurant Lokanta, Marmaris has hundreds of different places for you to eat, no matter what your craving or your budget. A variety of foods are found here.Turkish delights, doner kebabs, and seafood meze dishes are well worth sampling along the way.

The savage and non-indigenous evenings in Marmaris often encircle Bar Street by the waterfront. This is where all thnightclubs are bars are located and they're full of people until 4am. Most of the restaurants in the area will stay open all night to feed the hunger of the early morning partiers. Warm up at Davy Jones' Locker with affordable cocktails and endless dancing, cool down beachside at Vegabundo with the 'boogey on the bar' staff and at Cheers enjoy an alfresco cocktail while watching the drag show.
